This post is sponsored by Bean Sprouts, but all opinions are my own.
One of the best investments any parent can make is a museum membership. Especially during the colder months, kids need a break from the confines of home and school, and children’s museums offer hands-on learning experiences in an exciting, kid-friendly environment.
One of the disadvantages to “family day” is that often the food choices available at theme parks and children’s museums aren’t always very nutritious, or else they aren’t kid-friendly. Which is why Bean Sprouts is a godsend for parents everywhere! What if you could have yummy food that is good for your kids, readily available, AND appealing and attractive?
My family and I stumbled upon Bean Sprouts while visiting DuPage Children’s Museum. The premise of the café was great: genuinely nutritious food that actually tastes good and appeals to kids. What parents wouldn’t to ditch the burgers and fries for healthier fare?
The ingredients were impressive: veggie tots, sunflower butter, whole grains, avocados … but would the kids actually eat it?
For the kids I ordered the Do Re For Me, a sunflower butter and organic jam sandwich sculpted into piano keys, the Grilled Zilla, a grilled cheese shaped like a monster, and the Flutter Bite, a turkey and cheddar sandwich with veggies shaped like a butterfly. It’s like they know, right? Great choices! My kids aren’t huge on grilled cheese or lunch meat, so they nibbled that and ate the rest. I ate the grilled cheese, which was surprisingly full of flavor.
We ordered the pizza, which my kids also shared, and my husband said tasted good (when does pizza in the cafe of the children’s museum taste good??!!), and the Great Turkado, which was delicious! Of course, avocado does make almost everything better.
Top the meal off with a cake pop and some lemonade, and we left full and satisfied. Seriously, the portion sizes were big enough even for our monster appetites. Healthy food for the win!
So if you’re out and about with your kids or even planning your family day, definitely check out Bean Sprouts! The restaurant chain has been featured on Good Morning America and has locations in California, Arizona, Ohio, Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, and Illinois (we visited the Naperville location). This café is one you don’t want to miss!
