When I first started blogging, it was a hobby, albeit a pretty intense one. No one, including my husband, really understood it. I explained that I could make money from my blog, but it seemed kind of pie-in-the-sky for both of us, so spending money even as an investment didn’t seem to be an option. Then I bought my first course. It was from a blogger who had already helped me so much, Inez Bayardo from fortheloveofmom.org. The Influential Mama is only $24, and it earned me money right off the bat, which proved to be a great investment for my blog.

Even after that, I was extremely guarded with spending for my blog. It seems like every other service is $10/month, and those really add up. You need to prioritize. I learned early on that most of my engagement comes from Pinterest, so BoardBooster was a no-brainer. I experimented with many different levels to see which one gave me the best result. Turns out that the lowest level of 500 pins/month gave me no more page views that the 2000 pins/month plan. So that’s $5/month for BoardBooster.
As soon as I learned to make products for my blog, I was hooked. Again, Inez was a huge help in guiding me through the whole process. I now have several products and services for sale. She also guided me through the process of creating optins. I started out on Shopify with their $30/month plan which gives you your own store. I justified it because my blog income was still exceeding my expenses.
However, Inez announced that she was coming up with a membership group, the Pro Mom Bloggers Tribe, and I realized I need to jump on. To afford this, I downgraded to the Shopify Lite plan which just gives you Buy Buttons for your blog. So my Shopify bill is $9/month.
