One of the disadvantages to “family day” is that often the food choices available at theme parks and children’s museums aren’t always very nutritious, or else they aren’t kid-friendly. My family and I stumbled upon Bean Sprouts while visiting DuPage Children’s Museum. The premise of the café was great: genuinely nutritious food that actually tastes good and appeals to kids. For the kids I ordered the Do Re For Me, a sunflower butter and organic jam sandwich sculpted into piano keys, the Grilled Zilla, a grilled cheese shaped like a monster, and the Flutter Bite, a turkey and cheddar sandwich with veggies shaped like a butterfly. It’s like they know, right? Great choices! My kids aren’t huge on grilled cheese or lunch meat, so they nibbled that and ate the rest. I ate the grilled cheese, which was surprisingly full of flavor.

Of course, avocado does make almost everything better.

Top the meal off with a cake pop and some lemonade, and we left full and satisfied. Seriously, the portion sizes were big enough even for our monster appetites. Healthy food for the win!
