It’s only a shadow

To you, the subtle shade of twilight with its mystical understatement is merely a time of day.

To me, it touches the deepest part of my soul with a whisper of artistry perfected.

To you, the ocean’s endless horizon speaks a simple and fresh beauty.

To me, it sings eternity’s refrain, reminding me keenly of the limits to my perspective.

To you, the canopy of trees with their delicate handshakes are a sign of summer.

To me, they tell of a Creator, leaving his fingerprints all over the world.

To you, the bold colors of sunset are simply an occasional pleasure.

To me, a reminder that the One who shared this with me is clothed in transcendent beauty unseen by mortality.

For you, nature stirs a sweet momentary pleasure, quickly forgotten.

For me, nature stirs an ache for the beauty I will know when I see Him face to face, for everything else is only a shadow.
